Climate, Environment and Sustainable Energy

In sustainable development, environmental protection and climate change, the CEI provides a framework for consultations, sharing of knowledge regarding strategies and policies among its Member States as well as for the implementation of activities and projects.

The majority of the CEI Member States have made significant progress in sustainable development and environmental protection with regard to rules and norms, but there is still a need to raise awareness among the general public and decisionmakers.

Enhancing the role and participation of civil society and NGOs in environmental policy-making, especially in those CEI Member States where civil societies and social and civic groups are not properly supported is ever more crucial.
 

In the area of climate and environment CEI cooperation aims at providing a framework for knowledge sharing as well as for the implementation of activities and projects.

Sustainable energy production and use are top priorities in Central and Eastern Europe for moving towards growth sustainability. In this context, energy supply and demand will have to focus more on energy-efficient methods and make a greater use of renewable energy sources.
