Sustainable Energy
CEI cooperation in the area of sustainable energy production focuses on two core issues fully outlined in the CEI Plan of Action 2010-12:
- Energy Efficiency (EE) where the CEI intends to support region-wide projects aiming at promoting a sustainable energy development strategy by enhancing regional co-operation on energy efficiency and investment projects development. Special attention will be paid to industrial and residential areas as well as to technology transfer.
- Renewable Energy Sources (RES) where special focus will be put on the primary renewable energy sources such as Biomass.
The CEI supports projects and activities in this area through various funds and instruments:
- Cooperation Fund for small scale multilateral projects i.e. seminars, workshops, training courses
- Know-How Exchange Programme for projects related to capacity building and transfer of good practice to the non –EU CEI Member States
- CEI Trust Fund at the EBRD for technical assistance
