Information Society

Bearing in mind the importance of the Information Society area for the overall development of the CEI area, the CEI aims to promote and implement any specific actions aimed at enhancing the development of Information Society in its Member States.

Through its IST Network of Focal Points, the CEI actively works to step up its involvement in the area of information society, particularly in the development of knowledge-based society within the countries of the region, through supporting initiatives aimed at creating environment for a large e-applications and raising the awareness of the innovative IT solutions.
 
The CEI focuses on the following priority issues fully outlined in the CEI Plan of Action 2010-12:
  • Preventing Digital Divide
  • Electronic Identity Management (e-ID) Based Cross-Border Applications (clustering, e-Invoice, extended and dynamic collaboration)
The CEI supports projects and activities in this area through various funds and instruments:
  • Cooperation Fund for small scale multilateral projects i.e. training courses, workshops, seminars
  • Know–How Exchange Programme for projects related to capacity building in Information Society area and transfer of good practice to the non - EU CEI Member States
